SPARRING (KYORUGI)

Kyurogi, also known as sparring, refers to the competitive aspect of taekwondo. It involves real-time combat or fighting between two athletes. Kyurogi provides a dynamic environment where athletes compete against each other using their technical skills, speed, power, and strategies.

Based on the fundamental principles of taekwondo, Kyurogi incorporates strong kicking and punching techniques. However, the points of contact between competitors are limited and regulated by specific rules. Athletes aim to make controlled and respectful strikes to specific areas of their opponents' bodies while also focusing on self-protection.

Kyurogi serves as an important platform for taekwondo practitioners to apply their technical skills, compete, and measure their performances. It also contributes to the development of essential attributes such as discipline, self-control, speed, and endurance among athletes.
